Mosaic Heart Trivet

I obviously love yarn and anything I can make with it! And if you’re reading this, I’m sure you do, too!

It’s been so hard trying to use up my already too big yarn stash instead of buying more yarn.  So, I started doing some online research and came across mosaic crochet.  Honestly, I was shocked that after crocheting for more than 50 years, I honestly had never heard of this or tried it.  After watching many videos on YouTube and trying out the techniques, I was hooked (pun intended)! So I decided to try my hand at writing a pattern of my own and since it’s February, it had to be a heart.  This can be used as a trivet or a large mug rug.

So if you have never tried it, give this a try…it only uses 45 yards of 2 contrasting yarns and I bet you can find that in your stash!

Each box is 1 stitch.

If box is blank, it’s a sc.  If box has an X in it, it’s a dc.  If box has / in it, it’s a sc through both loops

Ignore the color on the chart, just focus on whether it’s blank or has a symbol in it.

This pattern has not yet been tested.  I will put it on the Testing Pool group on Ravelry and hope for some testers, but have not been too successful getting testers for my last few patterns.  If anyone is willing to test, please let me know.

I highly recommend the YouTube videos from Tinna Thorudottir Thorvaldar

Fiber Fox Studios also has great YouTube videos on mosaic crochet.
